The Project

The two-storey centre includes twin gymnasiums, a fitness area, multipurpose rooms and dedicated spaces for youth, child-minding and seniors. It was the first public facility developed under Surrey's master plan for the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.

The building's visible curved roofline is central to its architecture. Raven's membrane and flashing package was integrated with that distinctive civic form.

Roofing Delivery

We installed DensDeck Prime, a self-adhered vapour barrier, sloped EPS, two layers of polyiso insulation, a mechanically fastened cover board and fully adhered 60-mil grey and white TPO.

Raven also installed 24-gauge prefinished Regent Gray flashing. The system carried a 10-year manufacturer warranty and five-year RCABC warranty.

Why Fully Adhered TPO Fits a Curved Civic Roof

Fully adhered TPO is useful on visible roofs with curved perimeters and changing geometry because the membrane is bonded continuously to the prepared substrate. That close contact can help it follow transitions cleanly when the complete assembly is properly designed and installed.

Heat-welded seams form a continuous thermoplastic waterproofing layer, while tapered EPS creates drainage slope. Multiple insulation layers and cover boards provide thermal resistance, a stable substrate and protection for the layers below.

On this project, the fully adhered TPO, tapered insulation, cover boards and coordinated grey-and-white membrane zones created a durable waterproofing assembly that follows the recreation centre's distinctive roof form.
